Explore a hidden part of Malaysia through the lenses of the Orang Asli families of Kampung Orang Asli Serendah. With the villagers' guidance, you’ll be seeking to understand their current living conditions together with a team of passionate volunteers like yourself.

The information you gather and relationships you build will become a basis for us to work together with these families to support them in achieving a higher quality of life - on their terms. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy beautiful sceneries, explore a culture different to your own, and be part of an Epic community.

Who's Eligible?

We welcome everybody to join us as a trailblazer! Although there are some qualities that would help you become a supporter of this particular community:

1. Communication and Language skills
   (Bahasa Temuan or Malaysia for communicating with the local Orang Asli Temuan)
2. Humility, open mind & heart
3. A genuine passion for helping people
4. A sincere interest in people’s stories
5. A love for adventure and the unknown    

Prior experience is not required. We’ll equip you with the necessary skills with a training session on Friday, 24th of November,a day before you head out to the village to apply them on the 25th!The journeys we embark on are often made worthwhile by the people we take them with, so grab a friend or two and join us for a weekend of learning, experience and fun.

What to Expect?

A 3-day long engagement in an Orang Asli village (sleep over not required) where you’ll be meeting the villagers - people with their own unique cultures and aspirations. Their way of life often comes to a shock for most city folk, but as we dive deeper into their culture we’ll discover that we have so much to learn from them.  

Prior to actually going to the village, you will be learning basic cultural training about Orang Asli culture, and hands-on technical skills related to home assessment. We will be conducting discussions and activities related to cultural humility, communication & listening, critical thinking, and development, just to name a few.

Last but not least, expect a fulfilling experience of meeting new people and learning how to work together to do something EPIC for your community!

What will happen there?

The 3-day trailblazing adventure will happen on the 24th, 25th and 26th of November without having to sleep over.  The following itinerary is tentative only, subject to villagers' availability

24th November - Trailblazer briefing and training
Location: @The Collective 20, Jalan PJS 11/18, Bandar Sunway, 47500 Petaling Jaya, Selangor
at 8 pm

25th November - Meeting with the village representatives
The villagers are having an all-day gotong-royong to prepare for a Kenduri / event in the evening. So we are invited to join in after the meeting!

We will be travelling on both days by carpool.
