EPIC HOME BUILD

EPIC Homes is EPIC's flagship initiative that aims to build trust and relationships with marginalized communities in order to create cooperative, resilient and sustainable communities through the simple act of building homes, addressing the issue of access to safe housing among marginalized communities. 

In order to join this build, all participants must have completed a Basic Builders Workshop. If you have not completed the workshop, don't worry! We're organising one just for this build. Check out the details below:

THE VOLUNTEERS
This is a publicly organized build made possible by Tokai Engineering (M) Sdn Bhd! This event is open to a mixture of selected and public volunteers where an exciting weekend awaits them! Volunteers will be taking part in an exciting build and come together as a strong team to impact not just one family but an entire community! 

VOLUNTEER LOGISTICS

Location: Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Lalang, Semenyih, Selangor
Fee: RM380 (includes meals, supervision, accommodation, snacks & refreshments)
Transportation: Carpooling
Accommodation: Ecoventure, Semenyih

OUTCOME
We hope that throughout the build, volunteers will develop a deeper understanding of the how the Orang Asli live and that volunteers put themselves in the shoes of the community. In all that we’re doing for this trip, we are building a closer relationship with the Orang Asli and also strengthening the relationship and team dynamics amongst the volunteers as well. 

ATTITUDE
Do talk to the family. Have a great conversation and leave a positive lasting impression! They are usually very shy, especially the women, and they may be a little hesitant to approach you in such a big group. Be friendly, strike up a conversation and have a great time! Always smile as emotions ripple out to the people around us! Be open to new things as different communities work in different ways and volunteers could even learn a thing or two!
