Building 26 toilets and 21 Bathrooms with the Kg. Hulu Tamu Community

Welcome to An EPIC Exchange!

EPIC has been working with Kg. Hulu Tamu community since 2010, building 33 homes over 6 years, building relationships between residents and builders so that they support each other and find new, creative ways to exchange skills and knowledge. The idea is that the residents have requested for more assistance in helping them build the remaining latrines, that they will exchange the service by sharing their skills/craft/an experience. Please note that we are working this arrangement out with the village.

The build will extend to several weekends (Most villagers are only free on Sundays), beginning 23rd April, until all the toilets and bathrooms are complete.

Registration for the April 30 build is now open, in which we will assist 2 homeowners in building a toilet each. Each team will be guided by the home owner, a Local Coordinator and an EPIC Specialist builder, who will be exchanging skills in building and an in managing the team.

Pre-briefing Details:

Location: The Collective, No. 20 Jalan PJS11/18 Bandar Sunway
Date & Time: 7.00pm - 8.00pm 29 April 2017
Purpose: We will share the agenda of the day, sort out groups and meet each other.

Build Details:

Location: Kg. Hulu Tamu, Batang Kali
Date: 30 April 2017
Agenda: 
0800 - Meet at designated spot (currently Centrepoint, Bandar Utama). We will determine meet up points based on the carpool list. Please let us know if you can drive in the form!
0930 - Arrive at Batang Kali
1000 - Build begins!
1230 - Lunch. A volunteer will go buy lunch for us in town.
1330 - Build continues
1800 - End of day!

To Note:

1. Bring along RM50 to cover lunch & carpooling. This is just an estimate, but it shouldn't go beyond this.
   
   
2. COMPULSORY: Volunteers are required to have undergone the Builder Basics Workshop. For those who have not taken part in the workshop, you may click to register for the workshop when filling up the registration form for the mission. Workshop Details are as below:
   Date: 24th or 29th April
   Time: 11am -5pm
   
   
3. COMPULSORY: All volunteers who take part in the EPIC Exchange mission are required to attend the community engagement workshop. You would be required to register for the workshop when filling up the registration form for this mission.
   Date: 22nd or 29th April, 
   Time: 6pm - 7pm
   
   
4. Those taking part in the EPIC Exchange mission are required to bring along their safety helmet during the mission.  If you do not have a safety helmet, you have the option of either purchasing the helmet alone or the Builder Kit that consists of a helmet, gloves, a toolbelt, and poncho from us. You can collect the helmet on Saturday, before the build. 
   Builder Kit: RM32.00
   Safety Helmet alone: RM14.00
   
   
5. A briefing on the EPIC Exchange mission will be conducted on the 29th of April from 7.00pm - 8.00pm. 
   
   

Other notes:
Wear sunblock
Dress comfortably (shorts, sports pants and a t-shirt)
Wear proper shoes (no slippers!)
