MSRI's Tuesday bazaar is run by a dedicated team of volunteers from different backgrounds. Together they procure, carefully select, and organize donation items to be sold. The bazaar begins at 12pm every Tuesday at the MSRI Community Center. The bazaar team manages the storage room, sets the symbolic pricing, and separates items given free of cost. They arrive at 11am to set up the bazaar area, and manage the entrance, purchases, and exit of all individuals. When the bazaar is finished, volunteers are also in charge of re-arranging items back in the storage room, cleaning up, and making record of the daily totals.
Volunteers for the bazaar must be committed, work well as a team, and have a firm but friendly personality. The bazaar has been a successful program in our community center, and we need a strong team to keep it running, and continue to provide a much needed shopping alternative for the families in need.
The MSRI Community Center provides emergency support and helps meet the needs of our most at-risk refugee and asylum seeker community members. As part of this program to help families get back on their feet, we organize our weekly Tuesday Bazaar where families can come find and purchase basic living needs at an attainable price. Some items are given free of cost. Things sold at the bazaar include, but are not limited to clothes, shoes, towels & bedding, kitchen items, toys, books, baby items, etc...
