Mission Description

Mapping Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Peroh

Join us to enable community impact

We are on a mission to empower communities in Kluang, Johor! In November, Epic Lead Pathfinders began basic mapping and conversations with village leaders to activate their local resources to develop their own communities. We have received their support to take the next step: Community Mapping.

We are looking for individuals to join us as volunteer Pathfinders, to interview community members and collect information that will enable the sharing of community stories in a dignified and accurate manner to invite collaborators to partner alongside these communities to enable positive impact.

If you have a passion for communities, enjoy having conversations or like to explore new places and meet new people, we invite you to join us as Pathfinders to map Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Peroh in Kahang, Johor. Find out more about this village below!

About Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Peroh

Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Peroh was established in 1970 on land that once belonged to the Sultan of Johor. Before Malaysia’s independence, the area served as a temporary settlement where travellers built makeshift shelters. After being freed from communist control in 1967, the village began to take shape, with the nearby river attracting visitors and creating a steady flow of movement in and out.

Today, the village is surrounded by vast palm oil plantations, with some residents owning small plots. However, limited timber resources prevent them from building homes independently. The community aspires to secure proper housing and enhance economic opportunities through small businesses, striving for a more stable and self-sufficient future.

We are looking for 18 Pathfinders to map this village.
Mapping date & time: 15th February 2025, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
