We are on a mission to empower communities in Perak! In April, Epic Lead Pathfinders began basic mapping and conversations with village leaders to activate their local resources to develop their communities. We have received their support to take the next step: Community Mapping.

We are looking for individuals to join us as volunteer Pathfinders, to interview community members and collect information that will enable the sharing of community stories in a dignified and accurate manner to invite collaborators to partner alongside these communities to enable positive impact.

About Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Perangin

Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Perangin is nestled across 20 acres at the base of a hill, home to 12 homes and approximately 60 spirited villagers. Embracing their surroundings, they have mastered the art of cultivation, yielding a variety of crops with the aid of natural water sources nearby. Accessible via a rugged path, maintained with pebbles and rocks, this village remains interconnected despite the challenges posed by seasonal rains.

While the older generation thrives on subsistence farming and gathering from the forest, younger members seek opportunities in the neighbouring city. Echoing resilience through traditional craftsmanship in constructing homes from Bertam tree stems and bamboo, enduring for up to four years. Their journey, though arduous, resonates with unwavering spirit and resourcefulness, a testament to their enduring unity. The community aspires to build up their village and improve their road conditions.

We are looking for 16 Pathfinders to map this village.

Who are Pathfinders?


Pathfinders assist the Lead Pathfinders to engage with communities. They use conversational skills to gather accurate information and data, which can then be used to tell compelling stories that inspire change.

Pathfinders must be able to speak Malay at a basic conversational level.

Training: The Pathfinder Workshop

Interested but don't know what to expect or don't have the skill set to do so? Don't worry! We provide the training to equip you with the necessary skills to do so! (This workshop is compulsory for all new Pathfinders).
