Join us to enable community impact
We are on a mission to empower communities in Kuala Kubu Bahru, Selangor! In November, Epic Lead Pathfinders began basic mapping and conversations with village leaders to activate their local resources to develop their own communities. We have received their support to take the next step: Community Mapping.
We are looking for individuals to join us as volunteer Pathfinders, to interview community members and collect information that will enable the sharing of community stories in a dignified and accurate manner to invite collaborators to partner alongside these communities to enable positive impact.
If you have a passion for communities, enjoy having conversations or like to explore new places and meet new people, we invite you to join us as Pathfinders to map Kampung Orang Asli Kuala Kerling in KKB, Selangor. Find out more about this village below!
About Kampung Orang Asli Kuala Kerling
Kampung Orang Asli Kuala Kerling, home to 267 residents from 80 Temuan families, blends tradition with resilience. Established before Malaysia’s independence, the village reflects a profound connection to nature, located near Sungai Kerling and surrounded by verdant forest reserves. Most homes are constructed from brick, while some retain traditional materials, showcasing a mix of historical and modern lifestyles.
Villagers depend on subsistence farming, fishing, and work on nearby estates, with fishing playing a significant cultural and social role. Community spirit thrives through community-led activities, religious observances, and events such as Hari Raya and Hari Malaysia.
The village aspires to secure better housing, formal recognition of their land, and sustainable development. With active engagement in cultural preservation and strong communal bonds, Kampung Orang Asli Kuala Kerling exemplifies a harmonious balance of tradition and progress.
