Join us to enable community impact
We are on a mission to empower communities in Hulu Selangor! In August, Epic Lead Pathfinders began basic mapping and conversations with village leaders to activate their local resources to develop their own communities. We have received their support to take the next step: Community Mapping.
We are looking for individuals to join us as volunteer Pathfinders, to interview community members and collect information that will enable the sharing of community stories in a dignified and accurate manner to invite collaborators to partner alongside these communities to enable positive impact.
If you have a passion for communities, enjoy having conversations or like to explore new places and meet new people, we invite you to join us as Pathfinders to map Kampung Orang Asli Buloh Telor in Hulu Selangor. Find out more about this village below!
About Kampung Orang Asli Buloh Telur
Kampung Orang Asli Buloh Telur, with a history spanning nearly a century, has evolved from modest ‘pondok kebun’ shelters into a vibrant community of about 160 residents, primarily from the Temuan tribe and a small number from the Semai tribe. The village is renowned for its natural beauty, featuring picturesque waterfalls and a hiking trail up Bukit Kutu.
Traditional skills such as crafting Bakul Raga and Tanjak from woven coconut leaves are still celebrated during ceremonies. Villagers are engaged in various occupations, including rubber tapping, bamboo harvesting, and running small businesses like food stalls. They enjoy fishing, farming, and sports like sepak takraw.
Their needs and aspirations for the village are upgrading homes with toilets and home repairs, installing a proper drainage system, providing electric meters for businesses, and learning fish farming and orchard fertilisation techniques. They also aspire to establish a kindergarten or educational facilities within the kampung.
We are looking for 15 Pathfinders to map this village.
