Heart The PAWS

To raise awareness about dogs being abused and dogs adoption.

The team visited Pets Haven Animal Shelter on 4th January 2020. The team participated in a clean up session to understand the help that is required by the animal shelter. After having a discussion with the management of the shelter, it became clear that the animal shelter was in need of people to adopt the animals. Thus, the team launched a campaign in Sunway University College to assist the animal shelter to resolve their problem. 

The campaign launched by the team is about allowing the participants around Sunway University College Campus to join the game such as ‘lucky draw’ activities.

The team created a lucky draw box and the box is filled full of papers which is written ‘video', ‘picture’ and 'adopt'. If someone who draws/picks the 'video' paper, then he/she will be shown a short video that shows dogs being abused. If the person picks/draws a 'picture' paper, the person is then shown pictures of dogs being abused. The main purpose of this session is to let us know and record people’s first reaction and collect their comments from how they feel if the dogs are abused to promote the campaign's objective of stop abusing dogs.

After finishing the activities above, people have to photo with a signal of ‘stop abusing to the dogs’ and hashtag to the team's Instagram page, 'heartthepaws'. This action is to tell and create awareness through social media to the community that ‘please stop bullying and abusing to the dogs and they are innocent.

As a continuation from the above activity, if the person picks/draws the 'adopt' paper, then the person would have to draw a heartfelt message on a scarf that had been prepared to help an animal get adopted. The person selected to draw the scarf has to show his or her passion or enthusiasm or creativeness on drawing the scarf. The scarf can be designed in any of the designs, patterns, pictures and so on. The main purpose of this activity is to let people contribute their passions/love/enthusiasm from that and help the stray dogs to be adopted soon.

The person has to photo with the finished scarf design and hashtag to our Instagram page. This action is to tell for those people who are interested in dogs adoption and even if possible, people can try to do the adoption of stray dogs.

Last but not least, we would like to post and advertise the awareness of protecting stray animals and also stop abusing to the animals anymore through social media such as Instagram.
